Gwada Soul was created from a love of culture, family, and bold, soulful flavor. In 2023, Chef Jason Alston and his wife Cathy launched the concept to honor their roots — blending the rich traditions of Gullah cuisine with the vibrant flavors of French Caribbean cooking, inspired by Cathy’s Guadeloupean heritage.
A graduate of The Art Institute of San Antonio, Jason combines heritage and creativity to craft dishes like Colombo Curry Pork, Gullah Catfish, Creole Oxtail, and Shrimp & Grits — each one telling a story through flavor.
Now proudly based in El Paso, Gwada Soul is ready to share their soulful, cultural fusion with a new community — one unforgettable bite at a time.
